Jollibee opens new store in China
Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC), the largest fast food chain operator in the country, announced Wednesday that it has opened a Jollibee outlet in Shenzhen City, China.The store, which is located in G-8, G-9 Jia Ning Na Mall in the city, is owned and operated by Kuai Le Feng, a wholly owned subsidiary of JFC. This is the first Jollibee outlet to be opened in China after several years, JFC said.
The company earlier operated a franchised store in Xiamen from 1998 to 2002. JFC chairman and chief executive Tony Tan Caktiong earlier said that the company intends to speed up store expansion this year, “particulary Jollibee in the United States and Yonghe King in the People’s Republic of China.”In 2007, the company spent P2.3 billion in putting up a total of 173 new outlets. This fueled a 9.4-percent year-on-year rise in its full-year net income to P2.36 billion.
As of last month, JFC was operating a total of 1,385 stores nationwide, namely, Jollibee (625), Chowking (376), Greenwhich (237), Red Ribbon (192), Delifrance (27) and Manong Pepe (2). The group had 186 stores overseas.
